  • It was one of those quiet mornings in Willowbrook, when the mist lingered over the fields and the whole village seemed to be holding its breath. The soft light of dawn filtered through the cottage window, catching on the edges of the Hand-Knitted Blue Cardigan laid neatly across the chair.

Mark stood by the crib, smiling down at baby Ethan, who was awake and cooing softly — small hands waving in the air as if greeting the day. Emily had slipped out early to the garden, leaving father and son to their morning routine.

“All right, little man,” Mark said gently, lifting Ethan into his arms. “Let’s get you ready to meet the world.”

He dressed him slowly, careful with each tiny button, his rougher hands moving with surprising tenderness. The cardigan — soft, light, and beautifully made — fit perfectly, wrapping Ethan in warmth. The blue yarn gleamed faintly in the early light, reminding Mark of the skies that stretched endlessly over the meadows outside.

When Emily returned, she found them by the window — Mark holding Ethan close, both of them looking out toward the horizon. “He’s got your patience,” she said softly.

Mark chuckled. “And your sense of style.”

Emily smiled, brushing a hand over the cardigan. “He looks perfect.”

They stepped outside together, the air crisp and cool. The first few rays of sunlight broke through the mist, lighting up the village roofs and glistening in the dew. Ethan blinked, his tiny face framed by the soft blue of his sweater, his expression calm and curious.

Mark watched him, feeling something quiet but strong — that blend of pride and awe only a parent can know. “He’s going to love it here,” he said, almost to himself.

Emily nodded. “How could he not?”

And as they began their slow walk through Willowbrook, the village just waking around them, the world seemed to glow a little warmer — as if even the morning sun had paused to smile at the small, perfect sight of a father, a mother, and a baby in blue.
